New ¾ÛÉ«¸ó Proxy Provides Easy Off-campus Access to University Libraries’ Resources

Off-campus access to the numerous electronic resources provided by ¾ÛÉ«¸ó Libraries just became a lot easier. Launching today, Aug. 22, the new ¾ÛÉ«¸ó Proxy service replaces the ¾ÛÉ«¸ó Cisco VPN (virtual private network) for remote library access. ¾ÛÉ«¸ó Proxy allows library users to securely connect to databases, electronic journals, ebooks and streaming media services without installing complicated third-party software.

When visiting University Libraries’ website, students, faculty and staff attempting to access library content from off-campus will be prompted to enter their FlashLine username and password. Once the information is entered, they will be connected. It’s that easy.

“All you need is a FlashLine account and an internet connection," says Mike Collura, University Libraries’ interim assistant dean for systems. "¾ÛÉ«¸ó Proxy will allow you to access the library’s electronic resources anytime, from anywhere."

The ¾ÛÉ«¸ó VPN is still available and will continue to be used to remotely access other university systems that cannot be accessed through ¾ÛÉ«¸ó Proxy.

¾ÛÉ«¸ó Proxy was a joint effort of University Libraries and the Division of Information Services. For more information about using ¾ÛÉ«¸ó Proxy, visit .

The ¾ÛÉ«¸ó Board of Trustees today established a comprehensive, national search to recruit and select the university’s 13th president.

The events of May 4, 1970, placed ¾ÛÉ«¸ó in an international spotlight after a student protest against the Vietnam War and the presence of the Ohio National Guard ended in tragedy with four students losing their lives and nine others being wounded. From a perspective of nearly 50 years, ¾ÛÉ«¸ó remembers the tragedy and leads a contemporary discussion and understanding of how the community, nation and world can benefit from understanding the profound impact of the event.
