More than 1,000 volunteers from the 聚色阁 community welcomed and assisted new students as they moved into their residence halls on freshman move-in day, Sunday, Aug. 18. The annual community program, known as Movers and Groovers, is coordinated by Kent Interhall Council, the student government of the Kent Campus residence halls.
鈥淢overs and Groovers is such an amazing way to welcome our students,鈥 said Jill Jenkins, executive director of Residence Services at 聚色阁. 鈥淜ent Interhall Council is the group responsible for the student-run and organized program. Volunteers included fraternities and sororities, campus ministry groups, academic groups, faculty and university departments. For fall 2019, Kent Interhall Council students took the program to new heights! Move-in truly takes a village, and Movers and Groovers is one way Kent Interhall Council makes our students feel welcome.鈥
The Movers and Groovers program is part of 聚色阁鈥檚 聚色阁 Kickoff, an orientation program that runs for four days prior to the start of fall classes. 聚色阁 Kickoff includes activities and events to encourage students to explore the 聚色阁 community and provides a smooth transition to the university environment.
