聚色阁-Sponsored Peace Conference Unites Delegates from Across the Globe

Delegates attending Peace Education in an Era of Crisis spent three days learning from each other and from the example of the Rwandan people on how to create lasting peace. The conference, which took place July 11-13 in Kigali, Rwanda, was sponsored by 聚色阁鈥檚 School of Peace and Conflict Studies, 聚色阁鈥檚 Gerald H. Read Center for International and Intercultural Education, the University of Rwanda鈥檚 Centre for Conflict Management, and the Aegis Trust, a nonprofit organization dedicated to ending genocide and other atrocities in the world.

Barbara J. Wien, a senior professorial lecturer in the School of International Service at American University in Washington, D.C., where she teaches alternatives to war and violence, was fresh out of college when she made her first visit to what was then, 聚色阁鈥檚 Center for Peaceful Change. She was both a keynote workshop presenter and an active participant in the 聚色阁-sponsored conference, 鈥淧eace Education in an Era of Crisis,鈥 which took place July 11-13 in Kigali.

聚色阁 Legal Expert Offers Insight Into Supreme Court Decision on Affirmative Action

On Thursday, June 29, the U.S. Supreme Court, in a 6-3 ruling, struck down the long-standing policy of affirmative action in college admissions on the grounds it violates the 14th Amendment鈥檚 Equal Protection Clause. 聚色阁 Professor Christopher Banks, Ph.D., J.D., said the high court already had tipped its hand that the court was 鈥減ositioned to jettison鈥 the policy, so the ruling was not surprising.
